LITTLE WITCH KATHY JOE DAYLOR BOPS WHILE CHRISTOPHER LEE RUMBLES PLUS NEW ISLAND OF TERROR CUSHING FIGURE WITH SILICATE!

HERE'S A LITTLE SOMETHING,  just rolled today.. out by #MonstersInMotion . . a limited 8 inch retro figure of #PeterCushing as Dr Brian Stanley, from 'Island of Terror' (1965) ... a firm favourite film with fans, so I see sculptor Steve Thompson's thinking in this one πŸ˜‰ When I first hear about this I was told it cam with an accessory... Ahh, thought me, Dr Stanley's chopped off arm!!? πŸ˜²πŸ˜¦πŸ˜€

NOPE, this figure also comes with a nice little accessory, that's much better, a #Silicate! So a nice deal. I don't collect these, but many do, who I am sure will rush to that limited edition orderπŸ˜ƒNice work, Steve! I wonder what he has lined up next??

ALSO AS IT IT #CHRISTOPHERLEE SATURDAY TODAY! I have shared a little something special at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE too! It's . . thank goodness . . almost at the end of a whole decade of padded shoulders, bumping synths and back lit big hair . . 1989! πŸ˜²πŸ˜›And just like the 1970's 'stand still Count', he almost favours here.. Christopher Lee provides his rumbling tone, a voice of authority and menace, to the dancing chords and hi bops of little Kathy Joe Daylor in her chart topping 'Little Witch' single, here being promoted on a German tv programme. It's a pity Lee didn't do a little more, as he certainly demonstrated in 'The Return of Captain Invincible' in 1983 he was quite capable of hot footing and jiggling his stuff, when asked  Sorry about the quality of the visual here, but I thought it was worth the fuzz, for the fun 😊 Take Care everyone πŸ˜ƒ - Marcus

THE BRAVE AND GENTLE SOUL OF PETER CUSHING PICS AND COMPETITION

THE 1972 AMICUS FILM, 'Asylum' which is featured in our Second Sight Films / PCAS competition this week, was a film that contains quite a sad and poignant role for Peter Cushing, both his character and Cushing in his own life, were dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. After the release of Asylum in the UK, the connection of the role and Cushing own loss, prompted quite a few interviews and features in magazines and newspapers. A few weeks ago, we posted the quite well known photo of Peter sitting at a dresser in his home in Whitstable, with framed photographs of Helen at his side. On posting this pic, I received quite a few messages from many of you out there who were very moved to see Peter looking so remorseful. So, I looked into our files and to find this 'other' photograph from this photo session and post the two here today πŸ˜€ The loss of Helen was something from which Peter Cushing never truly recovered, but being the gentleman and brave soul he was, he always managed to push on, to another day ... I hope you like the insert photo - Marcus πŸ˜‰

COMPETITION: WIN FOUR COPIES! LIMITED EDITION AMICUS BLU RAY 'ASYLUM'

HERE WE GO EVERYONE! Many thanks to Second Sight Films for their sponsoring of this and our last AMICUS CUSHING COMPETITION!... Asylum is one of my all time favorite Amicus / Peter Cushing films, and I think this release is going to go quite crackers and sell out very quickly on its release day 29th July2019. You CAN PREORDER NOW RIGHT HERE! THIS COMPETITION is now LIVE at the FACEBOOK PCAS FAN PAGE. IF you feel like giving yourself a go!? The last PCAS competition to win FOUR COPIES of SECOND SIGHT FILMS LIMITED EDITION OF ' 'THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD' was very popular and already it looks like THIS comp will make and hit some new numbers for our entries again!

THE SECOND SIGHT FILMS release not only presents us with a very neat and much improved print of the film, which stars some of the best of not only past Amicus casts but a neat crew in 'post production' and behind the camera too. The film has a pretty tight story and each of the four tales of terror skip along, just pausing for breath under Peter Tanner's editing. Tanner has a very good understanding of the pace needed for Brit Fantasy and strange stories, having edited some of the best of the TV series 'The Avengers' in nine episodes during 65 and 66. Tanner worked a few Amicus films and was in demand until 1998, sadly passing at the grand age of 88 in 2002.

CAMERA OPERATOR NEIL BINNEY, who made a very firm mark of quality on several of Amicus films rival, Hammer films over the years, makes everything appear in the set design of the titled 'Asylum' building, look every inch clinical, but not-quite-in-the-world-of-the-real! Roy Ashton, provides his skilled eye and hand on the make up of everything from quite nasty scars to 'what is trying to break out of that manikin?'  plus Douglas Gamley -  The City Of The Dead (61) , The Road to Hong Kong (62),  A Shot In The Dark (63) The Land Thar Time Forgot (74)- and moves the scrapes, thuds and off time clanks of Elisabeth Lutyens. Gamley thankfully was yet to discover the art of naff 'The Beats Must Die' score and sets a terrific and powerful kick off bringing in his arrangement of Mussorgsky's 'Night On Bald Mountain' and pieces of his own making, to make a film that not only looks frightening but also rips a score, that gets the toes a curling! So much to watch and hear. Along with this we have a VERY nice assortment of goodies in the EXTRA FEATURES department . .

ABOVE: JUST LIKE AMICUS, the art and timing of the 'good build-up' in how we set the scene, ready for the lauch of this the SECOND AMICUS PCAS and SECOND SIGHT FILMS competition, was about to go live on facebook, shortly . .

NEWS: THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD : SOUNDTRACK VINYL LP LIMITED RELEASE

NEWS: JUST LAST WEEK, 'Kritzerland' exclusively released something that would look and SOUND very nice in anyone's Amicus Films collection, the soundtrack vinyl LP to the 1971 portmanteau thriller / horror, THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD . . and very nice it sounds too! I have never been a fan of most of the Amicus scores, but composer Michael Dress certainly offers more than what was often quite abstract and contemporary and personally the 'tunes' of Elisabeth Lutyens or the swings of Douglas Gamley in Amicus' The Beast Must Die', didn't do much for me.

HOWEVER, the score of THTDB has some gems. Not a lot is known about composer Michael Dress, but his very short filmography does include some very interesting films and scores, including Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx, which starred a very young Gene Wilder, and an interesting sci-fi film, The Mind of Mr. Soames, as well as A Touch of Love, starring Sandy Dennis.

DRESS CREATED a wonderfully atmospheric score – some of it lives in the world of Humphrey Searle’s The Haunting, but Dress’s music is his own and it really gives the stories in the film an interesting texture and feel. There’s a lot of percussion and weird effects, organ, a solo female voice floating in the air, harpsichord, vibes, strings – it’s all very hallucinogenic and off-kilter and really wonderful. This is the premiere release of The House that Dripped Blood. The transfers were made from the 35mm magnetic music-only mixing elements and the mono sound is crisp and clear and really excellent. You can find more details about this release later today at the PCAS website and a source were you can sample a few tracks. It's wonderful news that even though this is a very limited release, for those who appreciate and collect such rare items, this is now available to add to your collection Is there a AMICUS score you would love on CD???

COMPETITION! WIN COPIES OF LIMITED EDITION OF HAMMER FILMS 'SWORD OF SHERWOOD FOREST' REMASTERED BLU RAY : SEVEN COPIES UP FOR GRABS

THE TWILIGHT TIME SPECIAL EDITION RELEASE of the remastered blu ray of Hammer films 1960 'Sword of Sherwood Forest, is a pretty neat package and a great addition to anyone's Hammer or Peter Cushing collection. Twilight has done grand job on the remastering, and Cushing looks every bit the villain of the piece, as the Sheriff of Nottingham, very sharp images and good enough to eat in glorious Eastman colour. It's a great job, on a not so well known Hammer film, that makes you wish the studio, director Terence Fisher and Peter Cushing had produced more adventures, with this same cast. We are VERY please to have SEVEN COPIES... courtesy of TWILIGHT TIME.... as prizes in the PCAS Competition, which is NOW LIVE at the  FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE!

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is go along to the CLICK HERE  and go along to the Facebookbook PCASUK Fan Page and FOLLOW the directions on the Competition Banner...simple!
