LUST GOES BUST AND INTO DUST : CHRISTOPHER LEE AND STRIBLING IN RARE PRESS PROMO PHOTOGRAPH

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! THE BRIDE THAT GOT AWAY! Christopher Lee and Melissa Stribling at the premier of Hammer films, 'DRACULA' / 'Horror of Dracula'... Stribling played Mina Holmwood, who falls heart and head over heels for Lee's blood sucking Count.... he almost gets her too! Peter Cushing's heroic vampire slayer, Van Helsing, dramatically pulls the rug AND castle curtains on them! Poor Lee's Dracula goes from LUST to...DUST!

THIS SHOT and pose is probably one of the most iconic images from Hamer's early films... it certainly is very impressive in the additional ADDED and restored shots included in the Hammer DRACULA blu ray from Lionsgate. Love the film, love the blu ray

ROGUE ONE : 3D BLU RAY RELEASE : YOUR EASTER TREAT WITH GIFS

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: A throwback, only to the end of last year when, 'A Peter Cushing', but not as some of us were expecting, burst onto the cinema screen. Rogue One has been a roaring box office success, and love or loath the Governor's CGI appearance, most were very happy to see Guy Henry's interpretation of Cushing's master villain.

#THE DVD is superb, the Blu Ray excellent, the 3D Blu Ray outstanding. The extra's disc is a credit to all involved in the film. I am, along with my family very much lovers of the whole #STARWARS series, Rogue One is an unexpected journey back to the experience I had back in 1977...And in 3D, the power of the DeathStar and the presence of Tarkin, really is quite awesome! I opted for this as my EASTER HOLIDAY present! It's a healthier choice, last longer than an Easter egg, and three times as tasty! I would love to hear any comments / opinions from anyone who has purchased and watched the film on any format.

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: RARE THOUGHT LOST CUSHING FILM TURNS UP!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: When archiving Peter Cushing's films over the years, one the hardest to find has been a little short made by MGM as part of the public information war effort campaign called 'The Woman of the House'. Cushing's role is very brief, no dialogue.

IT'S BEEN IN THE VAULTS of MGM probably since the mid 1940's. However, when Ted Turner of TCM made his mega purchase of the most of the MGM back catalogue, he also swept up their war time shorts too... we didn't know this until this film turned up on TCM this week!!! This is all good news.

MANY THOUGHT THE FILM was lost or destroyed. Let's hope TCM will maybe dig out the three other MGM Cushing shorts too. These also have never been seen since their screenings back in the 1940's. Many thanks to Marcia Loisel for these captures!

SYNOPSIS: Short drama about a British girl (Shirley Ann Richards) whose fiancé, after an argument, enlists to fight in the Boer War and is killed. Feeling guilty, she refuses to leave her house for 40 years, until it is bombed by the Nazis in World War II. Directed by Sammy Lee.

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY : HORSE-DRAWN TRIPS TO DEATH!

#throwbackthursday: Here's a ride, you certainly want to pass on... Many of the Hammer films that Peter Cushing appeared in were Gothic fantasies, and set in the era of horse drawn coaches, like this one! Hammer films, hired from Mossman's, who supplied all their livery, coaches and horses. This is a Station Omnibus which was built in London by the Aldebert Company in the 1800's. This type of vehicle was popular with hotel owner,s who would use it to transport their guests between their hotel and stations....or to Castle DRACULA or the chateau MEINSTER! Not a destination you really want to reach!

THE SCREEN CAPS below feature this coach in both Dracula (58) and The Brides of Dracula (60) George Mossman, the owner of the Mossman company, often drove the coaches in the films, being a trained horseman....but if you are waiting for a cab or bus... and this one turns up...you might want to, 'wave it on'!

#TBT HELEN KELLER : THE MIRACLE CONTINUES 1983

#tbt August 1983...and Peter Cushing his wrapping his cameo appearance as Professor Copeland in the 20th Century Fox television biopic, 'Helen Keller :The Miracle Continues' in Hollywood. PC plays Copeland with wry sense of humour, has some lovely lines and looks quite splendid in his academic gown. Alan Gibson directs, in this his fourth outing with PC. The film was marketed in the UK as 'Helen and the Teacher' and starred Blythe Danner and Mare Winningham.

*Trivia* : In 1949 the real Helen Keller attended a performance of Olivier's Richard III in which Peter Cushing played several small roles!
